CN goes Phoenix goes CN

What happened when CN crashed was that a lot of members along with staff migrated to PTFiles (old Phoenix torrents) and some members joined PtN.
CN staff was meant to be working with PTFiles to make a new CN-like general tracker. But now it seems a one year old copy of the db has been found and CN will be up and rockin' again.

From IRC:
The first rule is. Tell EVERYONE from CN that CN is BACK. The second rule is tell them to KEEP their TORRENTS. Third Rule is follow through with the first and second rule like a mofo.

CN, Filelist/Filepost & GFT update

CN or better known as Cosa Nostra is no more. A sad day for the torrent world. Both loved and hated, CN was a very good tracker. Nice layout, enthusiastic staff and a well managed bonus and permanent seed system which made the retention of movies exceptionally good. And causing a lot of drama due to its wanted secrecy might have been unnecessary but oh so fun. R.I.P.
Due to personal, technical, and other unforeseen circumstances the site put on some cement shoes and is now swimming with the fishes. - Bumrocks

Filepost.org former known as Filelist.org is one of the oldest and best known old school 0-day trackers still in function. No one except for staff knows how many users there are. Invites have been closed for longer than time itself. Most members have accepted that Filepost is a sinking ship and a lot of members have already changed to other trackers for their daily needs. There have been numerous posts in the forum about opening sign ups or giving out invites during the last years but the calls have gone unanswered. Until now.
Invites script installed, once we do some testing, we plan to make some invites available to power users only.
Also one old music site is going down but will be merged with the new revival of Filepost.
FileMP3's going to merge with us given their financial difficulties, there's even a Music category in the browse page here already.

GFT, the hard-to-get-into and notorious trader hunting 0-day tracker was very close to go down one level. You only needed to idle in the IRC for a couple of days to gain enough points which then could be used to buy invites. Now it seems all invites have been changed back to bonus points. It seems though that when donations reach 100% the possibility to buy invites will be back. The bonus point price for one invite is yet unknown. The tracker stays at its current level.

x264 stays

x264.me is a x264-only tracker. Movies range from 1.4GiB DVDRips to 13GiB 1080P rips. Allowing only a smaller amount of users the tracker has quite some amount of exclusivity associated with it. Demand for a membership has risen lately and people offering invites is not seen as often as for other high def. trackers. Still, there are quite a few threads in power user forums at different trackers offering invites for free to good and trusted users.
The people have spoken and the poll shows that x264 will stay at its level which has been and still is at level 4.

BCG again

BCG has always been the king of game trackers. Most would say that it still is but to be honest BCG has lost much of its former glory during 2010. A year ago BCG tried a new invite system using referrals. They changed their login page to a fake one and they made up a personal random word that you had to write in a search box before being able to login with your ordinary username and password.
According to BCG this was done as a security measure. But the invite referral system was flawed.
Referrals wasn't easy to get a hold on. And the person you invited had to have your secret word in order to sign up and the sign up process had to be done in a couple of hours after the mail had been sent out. What happened was that people didn't bother to sign up. And people started using other game trackers instead of BCG.
We all know what happened after that. No new members meaning no new donors. BCG has now had open sign ups for the last couple of months looking for new members.
BitGamer on the other hand has closed invites in preparation for a new invite system. Hopefully they won't make the same mistake as BCG.

It definitely feels like most of the new accounts on BCG are dupes because of the vast amount of accounts found at different trading sites. And with no stop in sight when it comes to open sign ups the former king of gaming now finds itself at level 2.

iTN R.I.P.

iTN v.2.0 is terminated after a couple of months downtime. From the front page:

Prawie dwa lata.

I don't know anyone that understand polish but it says something about "terminated", "thanks to whoever" and other stuff.

Spare us the v3.0 resurrection of iTN. Please!

Up, up!

Combined FLAC and movie tracker Skittles moves up one level to join the likes of HDBits and iTS. Lately it has been very quiet when it comes to info about Skittles. No one knows how many torrents or members there are. And no one knows how to join. Skittles is a bit of a mystery in the torrent world so to speak. But if given the opportunity people would not hesitate to join. No invites or accounts are given away freely. No recruitment threads are to be seen. This means level 8.

Specialized FLAC tracker Pedro's BTMusic is one of the best in the game. The possibility to buy your way in to the tracker doesn't exist anymore and invites are only handed out to uploaders and VIP:s. If you upload music and especially FLAC:s on other music trackers chances are that you'll have an easy time getting invited but if you're a regular leecher and seeder chances are slim.
It's relatively easy to get a hold of an account by the means of trading if you're into that though. Still the demand for BTMusic is growing and there's no change in invite policy to be seen. Level 7 for Pedro's.

LW checking in

Poll is closed. Lossless World makes its tracker level entry. Good thing is that it seems you can't buy yourself in anymore. Bad thing is that staff and respected uploaders have been leaving the place during the last week because of disagreements. Are we watching the rerun of "need-music"? Are new lossless trackers cursed? Don't know. Future will tell.
For now, welcome to level 4.

Hanging loose

Why are more and more invites from GFT hitting the street. The answer is that they are handed out almost freely at GFT. What you have to do is to reach the second user class, where the only obstacle seems to be that you'll have to wait for 8 weeks. But during that time you will download 250 files and seed them for at least four days (which is also needed to advance). GFT is a non ratio tracker so no worries. After this you have reached the user class able to get invites.

A while ago GFT changed the karma bonus points system so in order to gain points you now have to idle in their irc. At almost every given time there are at least 400 people in the irc. But it's still very quiet. Well, for every hour you idle you are rewarded with 5 points. And if you have reached the second user class you can exchange karma points for one invite. You just need to idle in irc for about a week. That's all and that's why more and more invites hit the street and that's why GFT's level rating is hanging loose.

By the way, GFT is one of the top tier 0-day trackers. GFT beats FTN in every possible way so with this great opportunity, if you get your hands on one of those GFT invites. Be sure to grab it. You won't be disappointed.

Changes or misdirections

iTS is one of the higher level trackers and has been specializing more and more in AFR:s and FLAC music lately. A lot of members from "The Rabbit" emigrated to iTS when FTWR fell of the web but the tracker is still fairly small with a small user base. Apparently they need some new blood so iTS has had open invite applications for a couple of weeks (only higher user classes has been able to make applications for potential members in the past). According to some torrenters this should lead up to a level drop. But to this point there has only been around 100 new members joining the ranks. And with such a small user base and still a big demand the tracker will stay put at level 8.

On the other hand. The dedicated magic tracker AOM slips down one level. It tracks about 4000 torrents and have a member base of about 900 members. Art of Misdirection meets a lower and lower demand on the tracker market and people who actually have any real use for the tracker (read magicians) easily join by applying for membership. Level 8 next for AOM.

nCore changes

We've been notified about open signups for nCORE tracker. This massive general tracker has about 80k active torrents and about 130k users. It's been staying at level 4 for quite a while but because of the amount of users, the not so big demand and of course open signups the tracker tumbles to level 2.

A lossless world

We recently had lossless music tracker N-M (Need music) open up and closing down with that looney owner (whatever his name was). Then they changed name to eargasm and for several weeks without any activity the new management decided to make eargasm a music forum (sic!) without any torrents. A week later the whole project was abandoned and eargasm gone. This project was almost as miserable as StN with the great Yocto navigating the treacherous tracker seas.
But now there are new clouds on the horizon. Lossless World is opening up an exclusive tracker with lossless music for the masses.
You can get invited via Pedro's and Waffles and some other places but there are not that many invites going around. So why not put this wanting-to-be-leet-tracker high up the rankings? That's because you can by your way in at https://losslessworld.info/signup.php. And even though it seems there are only two trackers (e's and p's) dealing exclusively in lossless music there are actually a lot more places with vast amounts of lossless music e.g. what, waffles and numerous DDL-forums.

TT is moving down

Since Trance Traffic opened up to 3k more users and gave out over 2k invites via lottery the market has been flooded with just too many invite offers and sadly enough just as many "Have TT freash account" offers. TT moves down from level 7 to level 6.

IMG changes name

Ok. So I guess most of you have heard about one of the biggest P2P groups - IMAGiNE. Most of you have probably also heard that they opened their own tracker. They started out with one encoder, and then a coder to code the website. Then came some p2p release groups. Then came whoever they felt deserved an invite and it spread from there. During their existence they have already changed IP:s once and they have also changed their tracker name from IMAGiNE (IMG) to UtN. What UtN stands for is up to the readers to figure out.

Removed Peer Portal. It shut down. Deamonbytes is supposed to be the replacement. Open signups here.

http://filenetworks.blogspot.com/2010/09/peerportal-shuts-down-deamonbytes.html

Moved BitHQ

Down to level 2. Still open signups.

Moved CHDBits

Classic High Definition Bits moves down to level three. As you all have seen invites are plentiful.

Added KG

Karagarga is by all means one of the best trackers out there. A classic tracker with classic movies etc. About 84000 torrents (some has to be requested) and a dedicated member base makes it a great place. There are a lot of invites but people seem to hold on to them and that makes a place at level 4 appropriate. Overall [9] because of retention and community.

Added iTN

iTN added. Level 5 (as of today invite application). About 1000 users. Only staff have got invites.
New start of the tracker. Good pretimes and ratio free but because of few torrents and few users only overall rating [3].
